We caught up with Los Angeles-based pop/rock band SYMMETRY, to chat about their newest single ‘Gotta Wake You Up’ and what they have planned for this year!

How are you?

“We're doing well, thank you! It's awesome to be joining you for this interview!”

You have released your first UK single 'Gotta Wake You Up', can you tell me a little bit about the track?

“’Gotta Wake You Up’ is really up for interpretation because the phrase ‘Gotta Wake You Up’ can apply to so many situations. There's been so much going on all over the world recently and it's mind boggling. Now more than ever is the perfect time for the world to wake up.”

What made you pick 'Gotta Wake You Up' as your new single?

“‘Gotta Wake You Up’ has been a favourite song of ours ever since we wrote it. It's a really fun song to play together live and it translated perfectly to the recording. We couldn't be more stoked to share it with you!”

How has the track been received so far?

“So far the track has been received well! The few time's we've played it live, we got most of the crowd to sing along at parts and it was absolutely surreal when that would happen. Also, it's resonated well with folks a few years older than we're used to which is awesome!”

How did you come up with the concept for the music video?

“Most of the concept for the music video came from our friend Robyn who directed it! He sings in a great band we've played some shows with in the past and he's a really cool guy. We sent him ‘Gotta Wake You Up’ and he immediately got an idea in his head for a video. We thought it would be a good idea to incorporate a lot of clocks and a little bit of a delirious vibe and Robyn loved it. We shot the video in one day and we couldn't be more stoked about how it came out!”

Tell me one fact about the band that you don't think your fans will know.

“We love playing basketball together. We'll play PIG (the same game as HORSE but quicker) together almost every night! Sometimes we'll play three or four games in a row. Being goofy and playing around together is definitely something that keeps us together as a tight unit.”

Can UK fans expect any live shows anytime soon?

“Yes! Be sure to check Facebook and Twitter @symmetrytheband and Instagram @wearesymmetry to keep up with us and we'll release tour dates as soon as we possibly can!”

What does the rest of the year hold for you?

“We've been writing and recording lots of new material and we'll hopefully be coming across the pond to the UK to play some shows before the year is over!”

Describe the band in three words.

“You. Tell. Us.”

Where can fans find out more about you?

“Our website is www.symmetryband.com and you can keep up with our Facebook and Twitter @symmetrytheband as well as our Instagram @wearesymmetry .”
