How are you?
“I have a cup of chai tea (my favourite) and my puppy Bella cuddled up to me, so I'm doing pretty darn good. Thanks for asking!”
You have just released your debut single 'Bullet', can you tell me a little bit about the single? What is the single about as a whole?
“'Bullet' is about overcoming life's obstacles and finding yourself through that journey. The cherry tree mentioned in the chorus is a symbol of life's fragility. When you start feeling stuck, it's up to you whether you stay in place or move forward and take risks. Climbing that cherry tree, above all of the madness that we encounter every single day, you can really see clearly. You see the big picture. You're able to see where you need to go to find your best self.”
How excited are you about the new release?
“Excited is an understatement. It's our first release after our recent name change, so it's symbolizing new beginnings for us. This release is really special to us.”
'Bullet' is taken from your forthcoming EP, can you tell me a little bit about the upcoming EP?
“It's different than anything we've released in the past. We've incorporate a lot more blues elements than we ever have in the past. We really got in touch with our roots in our recent writing. It's a bit simpler - a bit more raw. We can't wait for you guys to hear it.”
What and who has influenced your sound and style?
“Recently, we've pulled a lot of inspiration from artists like Gary Clark, Jr., Muddy Magnolias and Grace Potter. Also, our home state of Louisiana and the rich music culture down here have influenced a lot of our new material.”
What do you want fans to take from your new release?
“We simply want our fans to find their inner strength and never lose it. We want them to never think they are anything less than incredible.”
Can you tell me one fact about the band that you don't think your fans will know.
“There was a wine-filled, drunken night where we decided that our band name should be Molly & The Trips ('trips' being short for triplets since there are three guys in the band). Thankfully, we sobered up and that did not happen.”
Describe the band in three words.
“Family, Encompassing, Raw”
What are you most excited for this year?
“We're most excited about releasing our EP. It's the first official chapter of the Blonde Roses, so it'll be a big moment for us.”
Where do you see yourselves both hopeful and realistically in the next five to ten years?
“I'm just going to shoot for the stars here and say that I see ourselves on a world-wide headlining tour, still having the opportunity to share our music. We're in a legit tour bus with a couple puppy companions (I can't help it, I love dogs). Just a group of best friends traveling the world - doing what we love most. But, at the end of the day, as long as we're still together playing music, I'll be a happy camper.”
Where can fans find out more about your music?
“Stop in and say hi on our social media sites! We love chatting with you guys. We are on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook (@blonderosesband). Also, our official website is www.blonderoses.com.”
