How are you?
“Great! Thank you for asking.”
You have released your debut EP 'Teenage Fiction Part 1' can you tell me a little bit about the EP?
“Absolutely. We recorded the music for the EP over a year ago as a part of a larger album of 11 songs, however, we eventually grew out a lot of the songs and decided it was best to put out our five favorites at this moment and to keep writing and developing. We couldn’t be more proud of music that’ll be known as our debut.”
What is the EP about as a whole?
“The overall messages behind the EP are to be who you are no matter what anyone else tells you and to live your life to the fullest. ‘Teenage Fiction’ is about how kids my age think they know everything (including the band and I), but have not experienced enough life to really think so. There’s so much ground we have not covered, so our opinions are essentially not truly formed yet including my opinions in the songs I wrote.”
What and who have influenced your music?
“My parents have influenced me as a musician and person I’d say and what I’ve listened to growing up. In terms of bands Green Day, Fall Out Boy, The Who, The Beatles, and so many others are my biggest influences without a doubt.”
What is your favourite track on the EP and why?
“’Wild Ones’ is definitely my favorite track because of the big production and the simplistic yet important message I wanted to convey through my lyrics about embracing your scars and understanding that although you may feel alone you are a part of a large group of people that are there for you whenever you need them. A coalition I guess you could say.”
What do you want fans to take from the new release?
“I want the fans to enjoy the music in a very positive way and to make friends who do the same as well as just be inspired to be themselves and go for their dreams.”
What was the writing and recording process like for the EP?
“It was awesome! Spent over a month in Nashville making it last summer. Ten days of pre production and writing over at a sick rehearsal studio called Soundcheck Nashville and then we hit the coolest studio called Blackbird Studios. We were able to really delve into new musical depths as a band and take the time to make it the way we exactly wanted. Big thanks to Skidd Mills, our producer, for being awesome.”
Tell me one fact about the band that you don't think your fans will know.
“We’ve been friends since we were all ten years old and none of us went to the same school.”
Can UK fans expect any live shows anytime soon?
“Honestly, there’s nothing in the works in terms of UK shows sadly. We would absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE to get out there ASAP so if everyone over there can spread the word that may get that possibility closer to becoming a reality.”
What does the rest of the year hold for you?
“Touring the country and making PART 2.”
What do you want to achieve as a band?
“We just hope to live out our dreams and sustain a successful career in music, which we know is very hard to do, as well as create and play for the fans we love.”
Describe the band in three words.
“Real Pop Rock”
Where can fans find out more about you?
